The Ideal Politician: How does the Peace Party match up?

John Morris, Candidate for the Peace Party in the 2019 General Election in Guildford, notes that the recently-distributed newsletter of his local church includes the Vicar’s template for the politician he would look for.  This person would be:

  • Someone who is honest, trustworthy and true
  • Someone who is humble and who is willing to admit when mistakes have been made, when things could have been done better
  • Someone who values people from all backgrounds equally
  • Someone who has the courage to stand up against injustice and argue the case for the poorest in society
  • Someone who is a peacemaker, a reconciler who can bring people together
  • Someone prepared for a high degree of self-sacrifice without reward
  • Someone who does not court publicity and fame
  • Someone who listens before they speak
  • Someone who stands with and represents all those on the edge of society
  • Someone who cares for the whole of creation, who can think long-term, who recognises our responsibility for future generations
  • Someone who has a bold vision for a better future and who has the patience to carry it through.

How did they think he matched up at Cranleigh School?
