The Peace Party acknowledges that, it is very possible for anyone – even a Prime Minister – to get things wrong, indeed, terribly wrong. That being so, the Peace Party, were it to be represented in Parliament, might now be suggesting that the Prime Minister issue a statement to the British People on the lines of the following:
“My friends, I am very sorry; I must admit failure.”
“Since June 2016, my Government has failed to convince Parliament that it was in the best interests of the United Kingdom for it to leave the European Union.”
“My Government is therefore revoking the Article 50 application and thus the country will continue to be a member of the EU.”
“Parliament will now be dissolved in order that the people can elect a new one as soon as possible.”
“I must apologise also to those who came to believe that leaving the EU would solve problems of the lack of funding for essential services such as the NHS, the Police and the prison service, that leaving would solve problems of employment, the lack of homes, poverty, homelessness and the like when the Government had the full power to do the solving itself.”
“I must further apologise for my Party’s predecessor Government which allowed the use of a referendum, with a simple majority result, to promise a major change in the British Constitution. I admit that that was totally out of order.”
“I wish the country well in the future. I will not be standing for Parliament again.”
