Prisoners of war once smitten
By those pleas to “Beat the Foe”,
Find the devil that is in us
All, can spoil a moral blow:“Prisoners of Conscience” stricken
Low by needy, mortal man,
Knowing it is Nature’s instinct
To survive as best she can:“Prisoners of Faith”, now bitten
By those “Turning other cheek”,
Caught in “No man’s land”, and
Finding it’s a message that’s skin deep:“Prisoners of War” we all are,
If the battle that was won
Stops us from the one step forward,
Paralysed by long-lost sons
Prisoners of War
